GENESIS

The Oliyagam Trust was established in the year 1995 by a dedicated couple Lion.P.Ganesan and his wife Mrs. Malliga, trained opthalmists to provide eye care to the poorest of the poor in Madurai and Theni Districts. The organization started small by conducting eye camps in various villages in and around Checkanoorani and referring people with cataract with serious eye ailments to the Eye Hospitals in Madurai. With this activity still as the core, the organization diversified into other developmental activities towards the empowerment of women and helping children in difficult circumstances. The organization is also involved in various community-based initiatives.
